Black Fashion Designers Exhibition at FIT

The way race has played an undeniable role in fashion, it admits to the fact that black designers have been limited, despite their astounding accomplishments. This show is to bring attention to the history that people have forgotten and show some of the new faces that people might not be familiar with. As we advance into the upcoming eras we are seeing a lot of new black designers emerging and taking the fashion world by storm. The designers work shown in this exhibition are a guide for the new generation. Many fashion designers are already incorporating these old designs in their new collections. Trends like velvet, stripes, color blocking, waist belts and off shoulder have already been spotted on the runways. These are just a few to name, a lot of other great ideas are ready to be evolved from these black fashion designers.

Belts Are Back in a Big Way [Trend Spotted at NYFW 2017]

February 12, 2017: Kylie Jenner spotted on NYC street

February 10, 2017: Gigi Hadid out in New York City

Recent NYFW runways are showing an abundance of statement belts in different colors, lengths, and size of the buckle. As seen on the runway wide belts from '80s are being styled over ladylike dresses, cigarette pants, and even flared velvet trousers. This trend is coming like a storm and is already being spotted by celebs on the streets. It has been seen getting a lot of attention during the NYFW from almost every designer and is definitely going to make its way to mass markets in the upcoming seasons. Belts are becoming the focal point of an outfit making it look more edgy and attractive. This trend has the potential and will get a firm footing in the markets and in consumers' hearts.
